Sustainable design is one discipline, not eight. These are the places we are asked to imagine, and the ways we make each one sit more gently on the ground.
How does a building stay cool without burning power. What is it made of, and where did that come from. What happens to the water, the waste, the light. The answers shift with the brief; the way we ask them does not.
The work is the same beneath them: passive comfort, honest materials, and a closed loop on the site.
Whatever the scale of the work, these hold.
Climate first
Orientation, daylight and air do the work a machine would, whether it is a bedroom or a factory floor.
The ground it stands on
We build from the earth around the site: laterite, mud blocks, lime, reclaimed timber, over imported high-energy materials.
The loop stays closed
Water, waste and planting cycle on the site itself, so a place gives back more than it draws.
Tell us about the place and what you dream of putting on it. We will tell you, honestly, how it could be done from the earth.
