Lime & Oxide Finishes

Surfaces that breathe

The method, plainly

Cement seals a wall; lime lets it breathe. Lime and oxide finishes regulate humidity, resist mould, and carry none of the chemical load of synthetic paints.

They are also honest about time - they patinate rather than peel, and a damaged patch can be mended by hand instead of stripped and redone.

Why we reach for it

Breathable walls, healthier air
No synthetic VOC load
Repairable, not replaceable
Warm, hand-made surfaces

From ground to wall

how it comes together

A few unhurried moves, in the order we make them.

01
Slake & mix

Lime is slaked and mixed with sand and natural pigment.

02
Apply in coats

Thin coats are worked by hand, each allowed to carbonate and harden.

03
Burnish

Final surfaces are polished or oxide-finished for a soft, durable sheen.
